Cute Card Thursday #4

Planes, Trains and Automobiles. This is the challenge this week over at Cute Card Thursday......"but of course we wouldn't restrict you to just those vehicles, absolutely any mode of transport is allowed!"

Well, here's my take on it! I used these fab papers from the Dream Train Kit, the Image is actually just a peice of one of the papers mounted onto Navy card. Some Navy Satin Ribbon ties it off nicely. The Papers are available from Digital Scrap Place.

DCM Shrink To Fit

Here's this weeks Daring Card Makers Challenge.

I used to be able to make cards with lots of "white space" around the designs, but lately when I've tried to do this my cards just look sooooo naked!
So this week I'd like you to think small - not small cards, but small spaces of embellishment on regular sized cards.
You are allowed to cover no more than a 5x5cms area of your card with paper or embellishment - the rest of the card must be left plain.
How you use those valuable cms is up to you. So you may choose to split up those cms to use around your card, or use them in a block or a line. It might help to cut a few 5x5cm squares then cut those up to work out good ways of using your allotment. Making your whole card a miniscule 5x5cms is NOT an option!! Lets have no cheating (I know what you lot are like.....),but because I'm feeling generous, I'm going to let you add a SIMPLE greeting as extra to your 5x5 allowance! :-)

This must be the simplest card I've made to date. I used a scrap piece of paper and card. I trimmed them both to 5cm squares and then divided each one into 4 triangles. I used 2 triangles of each and stuck them together to measure 5cm x 5cm, because there's a gap in the middle I could add the Crystal Sticker Elements.

Two for One Challenge!

As you can tell from the Title, I did two challenges in one with this card. The First challenge is Daring Cardmakers - Pretty Pastels and the second is Wend's Sketch Challenge. Both have links on the left. I do apologise but my photographic skills need looking at, the colours are so much nicer in real life.

I think most will recognize the Papers as those from Pink Petticoat's Big Dots Mini Kit. There are 43 colours in the kit and they are all fab, it's really hard to choose which colours to use. I created the Sentiment myself in my Graphics programme and the stamp is of course A Tender hug by Penny Black.

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Making Waves

This weeks challenge is nice and easy! 'Making Waves' - the challenge is to use scallops or zig-zags (or both if your really keen lol!) on your project! And that it was, Easy! I've just been waiting for the right time to use these gorgeous Scallop Embossed Frames, and this challenge was it!
'

This First card is a 21 cm Square Card, I decided to go plain and simple again as I think these Frames make the card. I used the Mixed Bouquet frame. The frame and Card edges have been inked using a Fresh Lilac Pigment stamping pad and glittered with Diamond Stickles. The sentiments and flower are Peel Offs that I coloured using the Purple Metallic Permapaque Hobbymarker from Sakura.
'

The close-up is to try and show off the colours and texture as you can't really see it in the top photo.

This second card was done exactly the same way, but this time using the Pretty Paisley frame and a stamp in the middle. The frames are available from Craftwork Cards along with lots of other gorgeous goodies.

CPS #58

Here's this weeks CPS Sketch, I quite liked this one, a bit different to what we normally do. It was harder than I thought to come up with an idea after seeing the great DT cards. So I decided to keep mine nice and simple and a bit on the less side. Or should that be alot on the less side???

I used plain white textued card stock for all my layers but coloured the outer edges of the green and pink layers with the same Twinkling H2O's I used to colour the stamp. I also painted some buttons with the Burnt Umber H2O that was used for the center of the flowers. The Peel Off sentiment was coloured Pink using my Metallic Permapaque Hobbymarkers from Sakura.

Caardvarks Micro Challenge! - Purple Snurple

Who can resist a challenge like this? Purple is such an easy colour to work with, with all the different shades you get I could exist quite happily with just this one colour. The deadline is midnight tonight and there's a prize up for grabs, so head on over to Caardvarks, you still have time.

I used papers from a kit called Sweety Purple by Erika, it's available from Digital Crea. The papers are just gorgeous! The Stamp is Penny Black's Box of Chocolates and was coloured with Aquatone woodless watercolour pencils.
